Reality Writes
REALITY WRITES is a thought-provoking weekend for readers, writers and everyone interested in what’s going on in the world today.
Organised by the Sunshine Hinterland Writers' Centre (www.shwc.org.au), Reality Writes will be held at the Cooroy Library 22 – 24 July. While continuing to focus on literary nonfiction and the authors making the news or writing about it, this year’s program will also include many talented Sunshine Coast writers, eight workshops, learning opportunities for skills development, and professional industry advice.
Key note speaker at the opening session will be Andrew Fowler (left), head of the ABC’s investigative journalism unit and a contributing reporter for the ABC’s Foreign Correspondent and Four Corners programs. His first book The Most Dangerous Man in the World – the inside story on Julian Assange and the WikiLeaks secrets was published in March this year.
Some of the other authors on the Reality program include Anna Krien who will discuss her book, Into the Woods: the battle for Tasmania's Forests; Elisabeth Wynhausen, whose latest book is The Short Goodbye, and Melina Marchetta who has written a further five books for children and young adults since her first novel Looking For Alibrandi was published in 1992.

The festival program is focussed around the hinterland town of Cooroy and the coastal region of Noosaville. The Sunshine Coast domestic airport is a 35 minutes drive and Brisbane is around 90 minutes. Maps and local information can be provided on requests.
